Equity

The amount of money in the pot that can be considered a player's due to the hand they are holding. If there is $100 in a pot and they have a 50% chance of winning the hand, then their equity in the pot would be $50.

Expectation

Expectation is the amount of money a player will make in a particular game over time. To calculate your expectation, simply divide your total net win/loss figure by the number of hours played in a particular game. This figure will be your hourly expectation. For instance, if you win $1,000 over the course of 100 hours then your expectation would be $10/hr.
