Getting to Know Evelyn Ng & Amanda Musumeci

If there has been one story in
tournament poker so far this year it has been the emergence of the new-age female player. In 2010 women are suddenly winning tournaments all over the globe and online, and we're seeing more and more young female players getting professional sponsorship deals.
Bodog Poker recently signed
Amanda "manderbutt" Musumeci to Team Bodog to join forces with
Evelyn “Evybabee” Ng as the site's poker pros. The duo is sure to attract lots of attention, both on and off the felt, over the next few months. So if this year is going to be the year of the female player, Team Bodog is going to be ready.
Evelyn Ng is a Canadian-born player who has been on the live tournament circuit poker scene for years. Like her close friend Daniel Negreanu, she got her start shooting pool and dealing back-room games in Toronto when she was still in her teens. She made the move to Vegas as soon as she was old enough to get a job dealing games, and over the years has become a steady cash-game and multi-table tournament player. A member of Team Bodog since 2006, Evybabee can school most men on the poker table, pool table, or with a slick chip trick, all while being the best looking person in the room.
People who know Ng know that she's a self-professed "media junkie" who spends a lot of her spare time playing video games, surfing the web, or watching movies and television. Known for her ability to maintain her emotions when things are running bad, Ng does not tilt off chips and usually brings her best game to the table.
Musumeci hails from Philadelphia and began playing poker while attending Kutztown University. She developed her skills in mid-range stakes online until she met Anna Wroblewski, who took her under her wing and offered to stake her in Vegas. Musumeci jumped at the chance and has been improving her game ever since. She mainly plays online tournaments and cash games, frequently cashing in multi-table tournaments numerous times a day. The 25-year-old is excited about being the newest member of Team Bodog, and had this to say about what she will bring to the brand.
"A vast amount of
online poker experience, a huge network of online friends who also play poker, intelligence, youth, determination – and it probably doesn't hurt that I'm cute. I say that modestly, of course. This decade is definitely going to be HUGE for women in poker, and it's great to see that Bodog is growing along with the new trends and demographics in the game."
It's only a matter of time before one of these two poker divas has a major tournament win to their credit. As Musumeci looks to transition her online game to the live tournament circuit, Ng will be looking to score her next big live tournament cash that has eluded her since she ran deep in the 2008 WSOP Main Event.
