Bodog Flight Club Winner Justin “jkrohn22” Krohn, as he prepares for the upcoming
WSOP Circuit Event in New Orleans.
Justin won his seat in the WSOP Circuit event after entering the satellite with tournament credits. It didn’t cost him any money, and the credits were saved from playing small buy-in tournaments of $12 or less. The win was his first big score and the New Orleans tournament will be his first big live event. The 24-year-old Waukesha, WIS native only plays poker part time, mostly on evenings and weekends when he has some extra time. He also plays low stakes
sit-and-go tournaments when he doesn’t have the time for the MTT’s.
So far his live tournament play has been limited to small local events that wouldn’t have any world class players enrolled. He’s likely to encounter many new things when he sits down with the world’s best players in New Orleans, but Chris Moneymaker was at his first live event when he made history.
Krohn has a day job where he manufactures industrial panels for a living. He would like to someday be able to dedicate more time to poker, but that would take a big win to get him started; the sort of win that he could get at a WSOP Circuit event. He realizes that becoming a professional player won’t happen to him overnight, but he at least seems to be heading down the right road.
He says he’s a more traditional tight style player who plays the cards more than the player. He attributes his big win to this style, and intends to choose his battles wisely in New Orleans. He would like to go to Vegas for the WSOP in June, but that will depend on how he fares in New Orleans in May. Last year’s WSOP Circuit Event in New Orleans attracted 249 entrants and had a first-place prize of $382,928. That would certainly be enough for Justin to play in any event he desired at the WSOP.
