Bodog WSOP (Qualifier) Semi-Final Winner: Dave "darkhelmet13" Lee
by Bodog Poker | Jun 6 2009
Since April 5th
Bodog Poker has been qualifying players for the
WSOP Main Event through their Semifinal tournaments. The lucky players win the $10K Main Event buy-in plus flights and expenses for their stay in Vegas. The latest player to win their way into the big show is Mason, OH native Dave "darkhelmet13" Lee. Lee, and three other players, won their seat after becoming the final four in the May 31st Semi. The excited 30-year-old poker pro is ready to try his luck at the biggest poker tournament in the world.
"I'm really looking forward to playing in the main event. Naturally I want to go as deep as I can, but if I get some luck I know I can go as deep as anyone. It would be great to make it to the cash, but the field is so big it's not an easy thing to do."
Lee has only been playing poker full-time for a couple of months. He's been playing seriously for a couple of years, and ranks in the 90.16th percentile online for MTT action. Some of his recent cashes of note include a fourth-place finish in the Bodog $109 buy-in,
$100K Guaranteed event on 01/25/2009 for $7,000 and then an outright win in the Bodog $60 buy-in, $15K Guaranteed event on 01/28/2009 for $4,125. He also won the Bodog $5K Guaranteed on 03/01/2009 for $1,375.
Lee will be playing in his first
WSOP Main Event and doesn't plan on playing in any other events unless he has a big win between now and when he heads out to Vegas in early July. He's never been to the WSOP, but he did attend a WPT Championship event before, so he knows how big these tournaments can get. But a Circuit event will not compare to what he's about to experience when he sits down against a field of 7000+ players.
"How long I'm in Vegas depends on how much time my wife gets off and how I do between now and then. If I have a big cash before then I'll probably play in another event or two."
Lee is making his first attempt at being a professional player. He quit his job a few months ago and grinds
MTT action online most days. He's unsure of which direction to take, but his results show lots of promise.
"My wife keeps telling me to get a job, so I need a good size cash to come along soon. I expect to get my first five-figure cash anytime; I've come close on a couple of occasions lately. Hopefully the main event will be the biggest finish I've had so far"
We'll be looking for Lee in the WSOP Main Event, as well as all the other Bodog Semi tournament winners. The next Semi is on June 7, so don't miss your chance to be like Lee; planning out the details for your freeroll into the WSOP Main Event.
