The Main Event at the
2010 Wynn Poker Classic is complete and young gun Brandon "The Bounty Hunter" Cantu has taken down another title. The 29-year-old Vancouver-born professional has been consistently cashing deep in big events since he won his first
WSOP bracelet in 2006. He beat out a field of 242 players and took home the winner's share of the $1,173,100 prize pool. Cantu added $364K to his lifetime earnings, which have now risen to nearly $3.5 million in less than four years of live tournament play.
Cantu beat out another 29-year-old young gun from New York named Jared Jaffe. Jaffe has been an online MTT specialist for a few years and has been tearing up the live circuit in 2010. He had an outright win and three final table appearances at the WPT Southern Poker Championships in January, and this second-place cash at the Wynn Poker Classic was worth $246K, and will put him up over $430K in live tournament winnings in 2010. You can also add on another $130K that he's won online playing multi-table tournaments since the start of the year.
Going out in third-place with a $129K cheque was Burbank, California amateur player Melik Bagdasayan. The young gun theme of the final table continued with the fourth-place finisher named Tom Marcese. This 22-year-old MTT specialist from New Jersey has had two other big cashes this year, bringing his live tournament earnings to over $1M since January. He built his bankroll from nothing playing no limit holdem online cash games and sit-and-go tournaments. His fourth-place finish in the Wynn Poker Classic was worth $73K.
The fifth-place finisher is yet another online young gun named Keith Ferrera. The 24-year-old professional was last year's Wynn Poker Classic Champion, and narrowly missed retaining his title. He has had amazing success at this tournament, having cashed in six events in the last two years for more than $450K in winnings. The 2010 Wynn Poker Classic Main Event paid him $59K.
Adam Taskinsoy of Scottsdale, Arizona went out in sixth place for a $47K payday. In seventh place was Swedish
poker pro Ken Lennaard. He's won over a million dollars playing live tournaments, including four wins. Lennaard had four cashes in the Wynn Poker Classic this year for more than $40K. His seventh-place finish in the Main Event was worth $35K.
In eighth place was accomplished live tournament pro Osmin Dardon. He's also won over a million dollars playing live events and has been a consistent earner since 2005. His cheque was worth $23K.
The last player in the final table of the 2010 Wynn Poker Classic was Christopher Crilly. He won $21K for ninth place and brought his career tournament earnings up to nearly $200K.
