Sit and Go Tournaments

Sit and Go tournaments usually only pay a couple of positions. Depending on the size of the event, that number will fluctuate. It’s important to know how many places are paid in any event you’re in and adjust when you get close to the bubble. Going out on the bubble is a big waste of your time. You played for the longest period possible without making any money. Most times, finishing on the bubble can be avoided if you take some time to think about the situation you’re in.
If only four players are left in the event, and it pays the top three, it’s time to figure out where you stand. If you have the lead you can just sit back and wait for someone to get knocked out. You can also force the action when the smaller stacks are in the blind positions. The smaller-stack players will be thinking about survival, and will only be interested in maintaining a stack bigger than the smallest one at the table.
If you’re the shortest stack and the action is tight, it means that the other players are willing to try and blind you out. When you get some half-decent cards, you have to try and double through or pick up the blinds. On the other hand, if the other opponents are still playing lots of hands and are going hard at each other, you can lay low and hope that someone else makes a bonehead play and gets knocked out on the bubble.
